Montessori Model United Nations: Through Our Eyes
Montessori Model United Nations was a fantastic experience that everyone really enjoyed. It was great to be in New York and to see people from different places coming together to think up great ideas to change the world. Everyone met a lot of people from all over the world and came back from each day with tons of stories about what they accomplished. All the people that we met were full of different ideas and each committee used their different ideas to create a resolution paper to present at the United Nations. MMUN gave everyone a different perspective on what’s going on in the world and what we can do to help people in need.

Read quotes about the MMUN experience from each of the Clanmore Middle School students.
“It is great to see that every country in the world has the chance to have a say in what is happening in the world, that everyone can have an influence.” – Hattie
“When I was there I tried to make friends with as many people as I could from other countries, and I think I succeeded. I made friends from Italy, China, Massachussets, Texas, Michigan and Ottawa.” – Nathan
“I really enjoyed doing the prep work before going to New York. Chris and I each pulled our own weight and contributed equally so I knew we would both be prepared when we went to NYC. I enjoyed every second of the conference. Just seeing kids from all over the world who were complete strangers come together and work so well together so we can change the world. It’s amazing!” – Natalia
“What I got out of the MMUN experience was…I WANT TO GO BACK! The second thing I got out of the experience is that you can do anything. For example, a bunch of kids my age and I proposed a resolution in the actual United Nations, which was amazing.” – Chris
“My experience in MMUN was spectacular and it was really a life changing event. I was fortunate to have taken part in this event. Not everyday do you get to go to a place where you can propose an idea that could really change the world in a huge way.” – Carson
“MMUN gave me a different perspective on everything. I was able to see what’s going on in the world and what we can do to help. It was just so amazing to be part of MMUN and to do things that change the world.” – Isabelle
“Participating in the Montessori Model United Nations was a great honour. I got so many different things out of the experience: friendship, knowledge and understanding, among others. I made sure that my voice was heard and even got to speak in front of 1,500 people. I was so proud of myself and my class.” – Kathryn
